The Top Color Interior Design Trends For 2024
“What colors should I use in decorating my home?” is a top question many homeowners ask, when it comes time to decorate a new home or update an existing residence. You may want to first consider reviewing what the color and design experts have to say. Every year the Pantone Color Institute along with and a wide number of paint companies: Behr, Benjamin Moore, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams and Valspar present their top colors for the new year. At the same time, numerous interior design publications and experts offer their forecast of home fashions for the forthcoming year. Since color is influential in home design, many of the forecasts are in harmony with each other, while others vastly differ. Nevertheless, here are the top color trends in interior design for 2024.
Everything Is “Just Peachy” – Peach Is The Color Of 2024
According to Pantone and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, Peach is the color of the year. Pantone named Peach Fuzz, a velvety, gentle and sensual tone with hues of pink and orange as their top color. HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams chose Persimmon, formerly known as Pave’ Peach, as their top pick. Incorporating tones of pink and orange, both shades are ideal for accent walls, rugs and accessories in the home. Interestingly, Pantone’s color of 2023: Magenta proved to be very popular throughout the year, especially with the hot pink fashion craze that swept the globe when the film Barbie was released last June.
Bluer Than Blue – Blue Hues Are Back
Blue is expected to be a very big home decorating color for 2024. Benjamin Moore named Blue Nova as their color for 2024, while Valspar chose Renew Blue as their top choice for 2024. Featuring tones of blue and violet, Blue Nova is inspired by the brilliance of a new star forming in space. In a mid-tone blue-green, Renew Blue, captures the essence of the sea. Both blue colors are ideal for walls and accent walls throughout the home. In addition, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams also named two shades of blue: Stardew and Waterloo in their top colors for 2024. In a watery blue tone with gray hues, Stardew is a light airy color. Waterloo features warm gray notes and a darker rainy blue hue. The two gray-blue colors are perfect for walls and cabinets.
A Return To The Dark Side
Dark shades are back! Dark shades of brown and black are expected to be big in 2024. In fact, Behr named Cracked Pepper, an alluring soft black, charcoal gray tone as their Color for 2024. The paint manufacturer projects the color is ideal for living spaces, especially bathrooms. Meanwhile, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams includes Cyberspace, a cool charcoal gray color with cool overtones, as another top color pick for the year.
HGTV Home also includes Dark Auburn in their roster for 2024. Striking the right balance of brick and burgundy, the shade is ideal for both modern and traditional homes.
The Green Imitative – Go Earthy Green
Green is another popular shade for 2024. The paint company Dutch Boy named Ironside, a warm and deep earthy green tone as their Color for 2024. Oakmoss, a dark earthy green that recalls a drawing room or library form a British period film, is another of HGTV Home’s color choices for the year. The color is an ideal choice for traditional and transitional decors. It also lends an eclectic twist to a modern home. Regent Green, a dark hunter green with black undertones, is listed as one of Benjamin Moore’s top colors of the year as well.
Neutrality Rules Once Again
